Pursuing Peace (Genesis 26)

In general we all have chosen to follow Jesus for our life. It’s the best decision we’ve ever made.
The decision to follow Jesus each day isn’t always obvious. We let our situations influence that decision. Why? By looking at the three reasons why these people didn’t follow Jesus for life we can see some of the reasons why we don’t follow Him day by day. So let’s expose these excuses as "baaaaad" ones.

2008 Dominican Republic Missions Trip (SIGNUP FORMS DUE THIS WEEK)

We are excited about our 2008 missions trip for !GNITE. We will be going to the Dominican Republic to support a Christian group called SCORE International. The trip will be from Tuesday, August 19th to the Monday, 25th.

Check out all the details below and pray about joining us as we serve the Lord in another country! Last year's trip was amazing. We had 10 students and 5 leaders. This year we hope to bring 12 students and 6 leaders.

The students served God by:

Sharing the Gosepl in skits
Loving children in sugarcane villages
Helping out at a girls orphanage
Visiting a handicap orphanage
Handing out tracts in the city

No matter what we did to get their attention we always ended by having our spanish speakers translate for us as the students shared about Jesus. It was great to see that God used our students to grab a hold of many hearts in the Dominican. We are praying for another amazing work of God in 2008! Pray about it, but remember that the application deadlines is March 26th.

We made it to the SCORE Hotel today. We were a little delayed because we lost a few bags. We actually left a few bags in the van underneath the seat. Silly us. It's nothing crucial. We are buying come extra clothes for one of the team members. Our plane was delayed an hour, but we had lots of fun traveling together...

MISSION TRIP UPDATE: Day #4

We had another great day. This morning we went to JUBMO to buy food for 20 families using the money our youth group gave in offerings this year. After shopping we headed to the village with food and toys. The SCORE leader handed out numbers to the poorest families to come back in 30 minutes to get the food. While we were waiting we played with the kids.

MISSION TRIP UPDATE: Day #5

Day 5 was refreshing. We had devotions this morning in 1 Peter 1 and this evening in 1 Peter 2. After breakfast we headed to Pastor Jay's Camp. He is a great man who visits the sugarcane villages and teaches the Bible and plants churches. If the kids are diligent to learn scriptures and write out entire books of the Bible then they earn trips to his camp that has a great baseball field, basketball court, volleyball court, shade and a huge pool...Check out the photos!

Our last full day was great. After devotions and breakfast we headed to Santo Domingo to hand out tracts and bracelets in the city. The very first kid we handed a tract to started asking questions, asked for prayer, and then asked to receive the Lord! Check out the photos...

The Greatest Reality... by Joey Rozek

With prophecy behind Him, a surrendered will inside Him,
sweat and blood protruding out of Him, spit all over Him,
mocking men like dogs and strong bulls all around Him,
a religious pride opposing Him, the weight of sin upon Him,
the head of the serpent beneath Him and the joy set before Him...
Jesus delightfully and frightfully, quietly and rightfully, undeservedly
while the public was observing He, with no one to help or stop this reality...
endured the hostility, with heavenly concentration and inhumane humiliation,

1 Corinthians 2 - Spiritual vs. Natural

As we continue our study through the book of 1st Corinthians we reach chapter 2. Paul is going to show us the difference between the spiritual person and the natural person. Everyone starts out as a natural person when they are born. Only a few are born again and that spiritual side of them now becomes alive for the first time. Listen as Paul shows us why we don't have to worry if unbelievers don't understand why we love our Lord.

Anchored Concert on March 22

There is going to be a screamo concert later this month. We aren't going as a youth group, but if your parents are cool with you going to a concert like this than you can head over yourselves with some friends. It's an outreach event to the unchurched. So bring a friend. The Gospel will be shared along with some "music".

The concert will feature such bands as: Then Falls Caesar, Subcolour, Ships and Sailors, In Adam All Die, Gray Lines of Perfection, Aurelius, I am alpha and omega, (and possible/hopefully the Miracle of you...) It will be held at Crossroads North School 635 Georges Road Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 doors open at 6pm.

One of the bands there will be "In Adam All Die" featuring some of your youth leaders. Please note: you will never look at them the same if you go to this concert. It can be scary. I'm afraid of Alan kahn ever since seeing a video of him "singing". He scares me.

So anyway, not a church event, but thought you might want to go yourself if your parents are cool with that idea. It's their call - not mine. So ask them!

1 Corinthians 1 - Are You Smarter Than Your Creator

You’ve all seen that show – Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? It shows parent’s how they really don’t know as much about the world as they thought they did.

If today’s Bible study were a game show, it would be called, “Are you smarter than your creator?” It’s reminds all of us that we shouldn’t pretend that we know more than God.

Have a listen as Paul warns us against not being unified as believers but instead separating ourselves into clicks. It's a pretty relevant message for our youth group.
