March Calendar Now Up

A new month means a whole lot of new things for the Ignite Jr. High Youth Group.  If you go to the calendar page, you’ll be able to see all the things Ignite Jr. High Youth Group is doing this March.  Here’s some highlights below:   Reasons For Hope Series More and more, the world is challenging our faith and asking tough questions like how we know God is real or how we know Jesus rose from the dead.  This series is going to look for good answers to deep questions and help us understand how reliable our faith is. Five Guys Restaurant Raid On March 16th, we’ll be literally attacking (sort of) the Five Guys restaurant in Old Bridge.  We’ll all show up at once, they’ll have no idea we’re coming, and we’ll get to watch their jaws drop as they try to handle 50 unexpected customers (sounds mean, but it’s fun 🙂 )   Pizza & Prayer Prayer can be tough, so on March 29th, we’re going to meet at the teencenter to talk about prayer, why it’s important, and how we can get better at it.  We’ll spend some time talking over the Bible and what God’s word says about prayer, and we’ll order pizza together, because pizza is amazing.   Have any questions about any of our events?  Feel free to contact Pastor Brian by emailing brianhiggins@ccob.org for...

New Series: “What Is The Gospel?”

Have you ever said a word without really knowing what it meant?  Sometimes, your friends don’t know either and you get away with it, but sometimes you get caught and you end up looking silly.  Maybe this happens when we talk about God.  It’s easy to talk about Jesus or the Gospel, but do we really know what we’re saying? On Wednesday, February 11th, Ignite Jr. High Youth Group will begin its new series called, “What Is The Gospel?” We’ll be talking about what the Gospel (the good news of Jesus) actually is and what the Gospel means for our lives. We’ll be breaking down the Gospel into 4 basic parts: God, Man, Jesus, Response.  By looking at these 4 basic parts of the Gospel, we’ll be reminded together of the greatest truth and understand it for ourselves. Ignite DR 2014 – Day 5

Jul 29

When we first set out on this trip, our aim was to help Pastor Jay reach out to the community children who do not currently come to the churches.  That is exactly what we got to do today. At 9am, we loaded into our bus and went out to a very poor sugarcane village.  One of the 6 churches planted by Jay was in this village, and we got to use today to put on a day of games and competitions.  About 60 kids came out from that village and the surrounding areas.  It was amazing to see a large groups of kids all come out to be apart of something a church was putting on. Through the day, we played all sorts of different field games, ran races, and played baseball with them.  Roughly 30 percent of the kids there were not attendants of the churches, so it was good to know we were being used to reach new people.  Our hope is that God used our time playing with them to make them feel more comfortable with being around the church.  It’s exciting to think what God might do from there. Tomorrow, we do our village feed and help out with a movie outreach to the community.  Pray the Lord blesses it mightily. Our team remains in good health and many are saddened to realize that our trip ends very soon.  Even so, we are excited to see you all again and tell all the stories we’ve made. God bless you...
