Dominican Republic Missions Trip Update - Day 1
Hey Everyone!
WE ARE SAFE AND DOING GREAT!
UPDATE: The voicemail number I gave you to contact your students isn't working. Here is the new #866-712-0871. We'll get these messages in the morning. Sorry about that - not sure what happened.
We had a great first day. All the students showed up wide awake at 3:30am this morning ready to serve the Lord
Our airport experience was so smooth it was amazing, almost erie! We all had fun getting to the Dominican Republic. We were told no pictures on the airplane or we would have more.

When we arrived in the DR our friend Denny (the missionary we had as our guide from last year) met us at the airport and got our luggage loaded and we headed to SCORE.
Once we arrived the students had a peak around and we checked into our rooms before lunch. Boy is it hot here, but we have AC in our rooms - so nice. The food is pretty good and after lunch we got started working.

We sorted out all of our supplies first, then we began to practice our skit. It's a cool story about people being tempted to sin by the Devil, but then Jesus comes in and shows them a better life. Frank Estevez will narrate the whole thing in Spanish and all the students are involved in this Gospel presentation. It is coming along nicely. We have our first performace tomorrow morning in a sugarcane village. Isabelle's mom made us two really cool costumes for Jesus and Satan that will help us in our Broadway debut. Pray for us! ![]()

Then we practiced our two spanish worship songs we are learing: "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and "This is My Desire". Robbie Estevez is leading us on the guitar and apparently our Spanish singing actually sounds like Spanish - nice!
After all that hard work we decide to jump into the pool for some cooling off - it felt so good! It was a needed brake in this hot weather. We played an interesting game involving Gorillas and Trees in the pool (don't ask).

Dinner was tasty and then it was back to work practicing our skit - we really have it down now. Right now the students are finishing their evening topical devotions on "Serving God" and then we are heading to bed early tonight since we are tired.
Tomorrow morning we start ministry in two sugarcane villages! Pray that God uses us to love all around us in a mighty way. Have a good night. Don't worry parents - we are keeping your children safe and they are all having a great time. ![]()
God Bless You!
Pastor Andy Deane

We will be praying for you all to be a blessing to those you will be ministering to. Keep hydrated, it is very hot there. Has the ice cream been delivered? We were waiting all week for the delivery to come after running out on our second or third day there.
Great pictures!
Liz, what room are you in?
