2009 Dominican Republic Missions Trip (August 15th-20th)

We are excited about our 2009 missions trip for !GNITE. We will be going to the Dominican Republic to support a Christian group called SCORE International. The trip will be from Saturday, August 15th to the Thursday, 20th.

Check out all the details below and pray about joining us as we serve the Lord in another country! Last year's trip was amazing. We had 15 students and 6 leaders. This year we hope to bring another 15 students.

The cost is $799: Pray that God raises up the money. We'll give you support letters to send out. We'll do fundraising as a group and we'll give you other ideas on how to raise money. This is the least expensive missions trip that CCOB offers. The cost covers airfare, food, housing in a nice hotel, transportation and all ministry costs while we are there.

The students served God by:

  • Sharing the Gospel in skits
  • Loving children in sugarcane villages
  • Helping out at a girls orphanage
  • Visiting a handicap orphanage
  • Handing out tracts in the city
No matter what we did to get their attention we always ended by having our spanish speakers translate for us as the students shared about Jesus. It was great to see that God used our students to grab a hold of many hearts in the Dominican. We are praying for another amazing work of God in 2009! Pray about it, but remember that the application deadlines is March 25th.

Dominican Republic Missions Trip Update - Day 6

We had our morning devotions in Ephesians 5 learning to Walk in love, walk in the light, and walk in wisdom. After breakfast we got into a bus and headed to church. Josh and Thomas felt sick before the bus ride, but God ended up healing them and he felt great the rest of the day. Church was in a poor village (although it was nicer than the sugarcane villages). The building was great - they had fans running and it didnt seem hot at all...CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS.<< MORE >>

Hey everyone! Day 5 was great. Allie is feeling much better and so is Julia - praise the Lord. Our missionary guide Wilkins led us in morning devotions in Ephesians 4 this morning - it was a great time focusing our hearts. After breakfast we hit the road to head to the La Romana Girls Orphanage. We found a a man that was selling SugarCane! We've been looking for this stuff. It looks like corn on the cob and you bite into it and suck out the sugary juices on the inside - its soooooo good! We all had a chance to sample it. Good stuff!!! Our third day was fantastic. It started with morning devotions with Frank in Ephesians 2 and some worship. After breakfast we headed to Santo Domingo for our ministry. We passed out Spanish tracts, Spanish Scripture bracelets, and Spanish Gideon Bibles. We probably passed out about 100 of those Bibles to people. They were really excited and received them gladly...CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS.<< MORE >>
