A Worthwhile Day

So how did your day go? Was it exciting? Was it boring? What did you do? Sorry for the barrage of questions I'm throwing at you, but I wanted you to stop and think. Has your done been worth it? Has living this day made a difference in your life or the lives of others...eternally?

Sometimes we can get caught up in routines. And I'll tell you what...routines are boring. It's just the same old thing each day, not fun. We can get busy with friends, school work, worries, and other stuff that we just go through our day without pausing and asking God if what we are doing is "the Father's will" ( Read Luke 2:46-49).

We need to make each moment count because life is really short and goes by fast.

  • Psalm 90:12 - So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

  • Psalm 39-4-5:
LORD, make me to know my end,
And what is the measure of my days,
That I may know how frail I am.

Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths,
    And my age is as nothing before You;
Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.

    Selah

I think that one of our enemies greatest weapons against us is to make us distracted by "stuff" and "stuff we have to do". Don't let that happen! Pause every once and awhile and ask God if there is anything HE wants YOU to do today that you are forgetting. Maybe it's to read the Bible more, maybe it's to bless someone by a random act of kindness, maybe its to apologize to someone, maybe it's to write someone an encouraging email, maybe it's to put a verse in your profile, maybe it's to take some junk our of your profile  or maybe it's to spend some time praying to or worshipping your creator.

"Selah" means to "stop and meditate". Why don't you do that right now. Pause. Think about the day you've had so far. What would your Father in heaven ask you to do to make this a worthwhile day. A day that has impact eternally. If the day is over, what can you do tomorrow? How about your write it down somewhere you will see it.

Love you guys,
Pastor Andy

There's a song by Superchick called We Live. I think it really takes about this. Realizing the everyday is a gift from above and we should always live it whole heartily unto the Lord. Also, let's remember to tell those around us that we love them dearly, specially our parents

Here are the lyrics to the song Tricia mentioned:

There's a cross on the side of the road
Where a mother lost a son
How could she know that the morning he left
Would be The last time she'd trade with him for a little more time?
So she could say she loved him one last time
    And hold him tight
But with life we never know
When we're coming up to the end of the road
So what do we do then
    With tragedy around the bend?

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

There's a man who waits for the tests
To see if the cancer has spread yet
And now he asks, "So why did I wait to live till it was time to die?"
If I could have the time back how I'd live
    Life is such a gift
So how does the story end?
Well this is your story and it all depends
So don't let it become true
Get out and do what we were meant to do

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

Waking up to another dark morning
    People are mourning
The weather in life outside is storming
But what would it take for the clouds to break
For us to realize each day is a gift somehow, someway?
So get our heads up out of the darkness
And spark this new mindset and start to live life cause it ain't gone yet
And tragedy is a reminder to take off the blinders
And wake up and live the life we're supposed to take up
Moving forward with all the hands up cause life is worth living

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

    (Fade with
    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

    We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cause the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love

So yeah... It is definitely important to remember that "Every single moment whether sleeping or awake is His creation. And what God has made is GOOD..." I know that when I fall into the trap of doing the same old thing over and over again, I tend to forget God has given me the very moment and the very life that I am living right now. What He has made is good and that is more than enough reason to worship Him everyday and do His will...

So yeah... if things seem boring, I think we should remember that God has given us this day. How can we help but love Him back and seek to be in "His will?" (in other words: be obedient...)
