2010 Jr. High Winter Retreat - Jan 1-3 (Signup Now!)

Join us a few days away from the busyness to slow down and think about life. What does it practically mean to follow Jesus each day? Is it worth it? What if I want to follow the world for a bit first and then follow Jesus later in life? Why should I follow Jesus now? What’s the big deal anyways? How do I follow Jesus if I can’t see Him? Are people following me? Where am I leading them to? Lots to think about huh… It’s good to pause and think. So join us this weekend! THIS YEAR’S THEME: Following and Being Followed. John 10:27 - My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Jesus said “follow me” in Matthew 16:24, John 12:26, John 13:36, John 21:22.<< MORE >>

New Coffee Ministry Service Dates for 2009

Just to encourage you - this year in the DR the coffee fellowship money was used to buy a piece of property for a local church in the DR. They were in need of a children's ministry and the property right next to the church was available for 15,000 pesos - which adds up to $440 dollars. We handed that money to Pastor Manny in a powerful and emotional exchange and demonstration of God's love for the church in the DR. So this stuff really does matter! Let's do it well. Don't grow weary in doing good. We are scheduled for the following dates in 2009: Sept 20, Oct 11, Nov 15, Dec 20<< MORE >>

Got Milk? (Devotional)

Someone once asked a very insightful question: "I wonder how old you would be if you didn't know how old you were?" How true is that? Don't we all know people who look young on theoutside, but you would think they were extreme senior citizens by theway they act. Then there are others who seem old by number of years, but they are still as full of life as a child on a summer's day.<< MORE >>

Dominican Republic Missions Trip - Day 5 Update

Our last full day of ministry was very exciting. Most of the students were 100% and able to attend all the day's ministry. Shannon and I (Andy) got pretty sick last night and we weren't able to go with the students today. So that was a bummer. But God is good and now we can empathize with the students who were sick better now that we know how it feels :) In the morning the students went to a sugarcane village to play with the children. They said it was "awesome" - I think it was one of their favorite villages. Our local missionary was very impressed with our students and how well they served at that village... << MORE >>

Dominican Republic Missions Trip - Day 4 Update (Photos Added 10:50pm)

Our forth day was great. Most of the students are feeling better. There were about 8 students that felt that it would be better to stay home and sleep rather than join us for our half day in Santo Domingo so they stayed back - but now they are mostly feeling much better. I think tomorrow everyone will be able to join us.

Today, decided to cancel our morning visit to the handicap orphanage because we didnt want to get the kids sick, and we wanted to give our sick members more time to rest.<< MORE >>

Dominican Republic Missions Trip - Day 3 Update (Photos Added 10:15pm)

We just added photos...

UPDATE: Things are fine. The students that aren't feeling well are going to bed early. If you didn't receive a phone call from them its just because they wanted to get some sleep and they will call you in the morning. We are checking their temperatures every hour and they are fine. Some of the students are feeling better. The other students have been very kind and loving towards those that aren't feeling so well. I know this isn't a fun moment being a parent and knowing that your child might be sick, but we promise we are taking care of them and we will do everything that is needed to help them. Right now its just stomach aches along with some students throwing up. We are making sure they are hydrated and eating crackers when they feel up to it. It's going to be ok and we'll update you in the morning...<< MORE >>

Dominican Republic Missions Trip- Day 2 (Photos Added)

Sorry about the technical issues. Here are the photos. About 8 months ago, SCORE started a church in their facilities here in Juan Dolio. They have grown at such a fast rate that they were able to financially and congregationally establish a new church about 20 minutes down the road!! Today, we had the privilege of going to their celebration opening!!! It was such a blessed time of seeing our fellow brothers and sisters worshipping the Lord in their own way and language.<< MORE >>

Dominican Republic Missions Trip - Day 1 Update

Well, Day one was great. We arrived on time at Newark airport and no one lost their passports :) The plane ride was fun (don't believe the rumors that Andy & Shannon were bumped to first class - even if they are true). We were able to get all the students seats next to each other and they had fun.<< MORE >>

Bible Week!

Read the New Testament in 1 Week! Sounds impossible huh? Reading 27 books of the Bible in one week? Well, it might be – but we are going to try! Its 3 hours of reading a day. Wow that’s a lot. But I think that it is worth it. It’s a challenge for sure – but wouldn’t it be cool to get a better understanding of God’s love for you and His plan for your life? You’ll still have ¾ of your day that you can do whatever you want.<< MORE >>
